I want to offer some advice to anyone that is considering converting their own van. Don’t do it!

I have seen too many badly converted vans in the last few years to last me a lifetime. You are just not going to get back the investment that you have put into it. Leave it for the professionals to do it and you will always be able to sell it on. And let me tell you that the vast majority of people that own campervans do sell them on when they realise that they have made an error.

I have had two vans brought to me in the last month with multiple issues that we the result of an amateur conversion. I really can’t believe that people are doing this with new/nearly new vans based on how expensive they are these days.

I know some people will disagree with me here but I want to make people really stop and think about what they are doing and how much money they stand to lose. The market is awash with poor conversions that will never sell for anything near what the owners are expecting.

There, I got that off my chest. Rant over!

Interesting post mate, I agree with you up to a certain point. I think people buying a cheap van to start with isn’t going to be a prob. But beginners buying 30k vans and cutting holes in them is scary.
