I’m starting to look around for a Transit Custom and have noted some people have utilised the space behind panels to extend widthways sleeping either side of the van. Others have gone a step further with ‘exterior side panel flares’.
Can this be done with an H1 or is it only possible with an H2. Thoughts and any pics of an H1 L2 cargo area without the panels on would also be appreciated.

I’m really new into looking into a conversion and currently hoping there’s some way to do a tranverse bed in a transit custom H1. I mainly sleep on side with legs bent and occasionally (more often lately) sleep on the sofa, which is only 1.5m, I’m 1.83m tall.
With a H2 I guess it’s much easier but I’m hoping to be able to do it with a H1, but trying to find out what the max width of the lower section is. Do you know?
With a H1 I hope I’d get 1.7m, which should be fine for me.

Hello.
There is a YouTube video where a guy did the bed sideways on, behind the cab seats. I believe he said the maximum length he could make was 174cm. If you search ford transit custom conversion on YouTube you should come across it.
Hope that helps
