    Hi Everyone,

I’ve been mulling over buying a van for years with the view to converting it so i can use for holiday’s // short breaks etc. Fed up of being at home at weekends and really fancy exploring the UK and potentially further.

I’m in a position to buy a Ford Custom, Its a 2018 290 L1H1 sports 170 Auto. It’s currently advertised at £27,500, with 22500 miles on the clock.

Everything appears to be in very good condition, the van will need converting but I’m willing to take my time and work on this.

I wondered if this was a good price for the van?, it has automatic roof rails, sat nav, full leather interior. Also are there any suspect / troublesome issues that i can look out for.

    Many thanks Andy,

A 320 would give you more payload. A 290 may be enough but you would need to plan it carefully.

You can by mine, Andy. My FTC L1 H2 was £28600 in May 2020, it was 6 mths old with 1700miles on the clock. It’s now got 2800 on it and I had it converted at a cost of £12000. However, it is only  2 berth.

Personally I would not spend so much on a van that I was going to convert. If you make a pigs ear of it then you will regret it. Get something with more miles on it and cheaper. Then you won’t be in a position to lose as much if it doesn’t work out.
